Commies + Lust For Power = Disaster for country

So, they did it. They went and fricking did it.

The Jay Vee Pee has gone and convinced the Pee A to sign an agreement in order to provide support for the current Pee Em in the upcoming elections.

While the text of the agreement is verbose and very legalese, it basically amounts to one thing. Disaster. No privatisation, No P-TOMS, Revising the cease fire (allowing for the fact that the LTTE will bend over and accept the terms of the hardliners) No recognition of the LTTE etc etc.

Now, I know that many people don't agree with recognizing the LTTE as a political entity, but for God's sake, what other alternative is there? I am a pacifist by nature but neither do I run away from a fight. But this is a meaningless fight that can be resolved if people commit to it. What the Jay Vee Pee fail to see is that if the late Ranasinghe Premadasa had not given them the same recognition, they would have been extinct by now. That man (Mr. Premadasa) was quite capable of eradicating communism from the face of Sri Lanka but decided not to. Now they want to deny others a PEACEFUL alternative to a war. I guess it was ok for them to have been killing and burning etc, and then enter politics. Not for anyone else eh?

While they are so hot to shoot down every idea or plan that comes up, the only alternative they want is war. They are for the people and by the people, but how many Jay Vee Pee poombahs are out there fighting in the boonies of the Wanni? How have they helped to ensure the relative serenity that the people who are not in the war torn areas enjoy? If it was upto them, we would be fighting everybody tooth and nail.

Going back on privatisation. What does privatisation actually do? It streamlines the existing infrastructure to function more effectively and show a PROFIT. Its not majority stakes that are being privatised, its only a minority percentage that still allows the government all the control it wants.

Kicking Norway out. About bloody time. Its the only thing that makes sense in this piece of asswipe they call a 'manifesto'.

Oh yeah, the president went on Chinese TV and said that she created the civilized society that currently exists out of the anarchy that reigned before she got into power... Hmm, wonder what the Jay Vee Pee mean when they say 'the current lawlessness..."

sittingnut, looking at this you cannot tell me that voting for these people is the smart thing to do. Just as they have a right to vote their hearts, I have the right to call them stupid as*holes when they can't see the consequences of their actions. Especially when it affects not just me, but my country as well.

you cannot tell me that voting for these people is the smart thing to do - of course not. voting for mahinda and jvp is stupid but if people vote like that we have to respect that. i agree with all the rest of your post (may be except for the pushing out of norwegians part).

but on the bright side i don't think sinhala chauvinist vote + slfp vote bank = win. in fact this will probably create a reaction on the part of the minority parties.

You're confusing the JVP with the communists. The current JVP is probably the most UNcommunist thing (my coinage - thank you) to surface in a long, long time. But yeah, I agree, the PM (and the country) is just asking for trouble by this.

Yep. They went and did it indeed. Those monkey's are off their freaking head. Mahinda seems to be quite co-operative with anyone who wants to give him support. The president is saying one thing on a podium somewhere while this joker is agreeing to idiotic country-drowning suggestions by the commies and the monks.

If Mr. Premadasa were around, were in power in the late nineties, I doubt wimal would be around to scream his guts out. He'd probably have died in some car crash.

When our people realize, it'll be too late. This runs far deeper than their capacity to realize the long terms effects of voting the right people into power.

BTW, you're hooked up to Kottu. Cheers...

Now that you've had a big bitch and whine about the JVP and the SLFP getting together, is it going to change anything?

Nope.

So you best learn to accept it and swallow your rabid rantings because it's not going to change anything on the ground.

I'm sure you like to think that your wailing and breast-beating actually means something, but sorry to burst your bubble komiya -they mean nothing, absolutely nothing. Just like a fart that disappears into the wind.

You must realize that not everyone wants to act like a total pussy viz a viz the LTTE (unfortunately by the looks of it you do.....sad!). Why did you run off to a foreign country when you could have so easily run away into the glorious paradise that exists under the LTTE?

You seem to be one of those effeminate Colombo 7 type guys, brought up by snobby and elitist parents to look down on the "godayas" who form the vast majority of the Sri Lankan population, and apparently whose purpose in life is to clean your toilet and wipe your posh little ass.

Grow the fuck up please.

I really hope Ranil loses because that guy (<--moot point) is a total asswipe and it's about time he grew some balls instead of acting like such a napunsakaya. It was under his vainglorious tenure that the facist LTTE managed to build up its image internationally.

No bitching and whining about that I see.

Mr. Amba Gaha

FYI I am not a Colombo 7 ass, and I wipe my own ass thank you very much. FYI I am doing what I can to get the possible ramifications of the actions into peoples head. I was under the impression that when blogging, I can voice my thoughts and ideas for an EDUCATED audience. that being said, here is the rest.

I can either take whats coming lying down, or scream blue murder and try to prevent it. I don't think like you neanderthals because I would like to see a peaceful Sri Lanka, w/o its sons and daughters mutilated by war. Whether you like to admit it or not, EVERY Sri Lankan is affected by the war.

Peace is the only thing that will 'win' this war. Whoever is the bigger person has to be willing to take a risk. We can either sink down to the level of the LTTE and play in the mud for another 20+ years, or get them to shut up and sit down and hammer out a peace deal.

If by some chance you haven't noticed, the war in Sri Lanka is not a conventional war that can be won simply by the might of arms. It is a guerilla war and those my friend take a lot more than who has the biggest guns or balls. This is right up there with Vietnam, Russia and Afghanistan etc. What happened then? The BIGGEST guns in the world had to pull out.

I am not saying Ranil is the best choice. But given our options, he is the BETTER choice.

My breast beating and wailing as you put it does make me feel better. And you know what else? Its better to at least put it out there and not keep it in.

You seem to be a person who will stand and watch till all hell breaks loose and not do or say anything to prevent it.

Cheers

Mr. Amba Gaha,

Are you in the SL Army? Have you any friends or relatives in the Army? If you do, go ask them what they want. Peace or trying to kick some LTTE ass for the next two decades? Go ask.

You gotta appreciate people like Komiya, whose blogs are read by many intellectuals in SL and abroad. Those of you who have that petty and stupid mindset and cannot see two feet beyond your so-called balls are the ones who are driving this country to the ground. You people with your false sense of patriotism who can't think in terms of more intelligent folk, can't think in terms of time, understanding that this is the 21st century and not the 16th should really start reading some books.

The JVP is not communist????

After Wimal Weerawansa/Tilvin Silva visit North Korea for the anniversery of its victory in the Korean war and then come back to SL and hold a press conference and tell us that "Sri Lanka has much to learn from North Korea, particularly in the field sof agriculture and education"?

(this was a little before they came into government)

Have a look at the folowing Q&A session with Wimal

Wed Dec 4 07:16:21 EST 2002
Being a Marxist party, how would JVP justify its cohabition with People Alliance, which openly stands for the capiatlist open-market economy? [edited by moderator] - Dr. A.R.M. Imtiyaz, Nanjing University, China

Answer:
Dear Imitiyas, The outlook of the JVP is based on Marxism-Leninism. We are courageous enough to admit it. Marxism-Leninism is the philosophy which analysed the present situation faced by all the masses in the world and showed the way for emancipation.

However we are not a lot of imported Marxist-Leninists. We are people of this land. Hence, we are also the proclaimers of historical and National interests. We also are those who hold high the banner of human excellence and social values inherited from our great history. We prominently represent the vast social interest of winning, yes! National Independence to this country which is being subjected to re-colonialism. You need not consider us as pseudo-Marxists who have been uprooted from their land and drifted away in a so-called internationalism. We are Marxist-Leninists who are deeply rooted to this land and as a consequence are linked to the whole world. Our country needs National independence. We need the right to decide our course of action. It is not an issue that could be solved by the villainous “universal franchise”. Today ours is a country which is subjected to re-colonization. The prototypes of plans that solve the national issue of Sri Lanka is decided in Oslo. Model is ‘manufactured’ by “Forum of Federation” in Canada. Economically the country is entrapped in a snare of debts. The Economic policies and decisions are decided not by the rulers of our country. The budget too is a lyric sung to the tune of IMF. Today we have become slaves in every way - economically, politically and culturally. Emancipation from this state of affairs is the Marxism-Leninism of the day for our country. On one hand the ‘Israel’ of south Asia is being built on this land after partitioning it. On the other the last shreds of life in our economy are being let loose.
